Finally, the festival of colors is here. People across the nation irrespective of their religion, class or creed celebrate the Holi with enthusiasm. The festival is also considered significant as it marks the change of seasons from winter to spring. The Holi has sprinkled its colors even on Bollywood films.

So here is the list of Hindi films that have incorporated the colors of Holi in their narrative.

Sholay

Undoubtedly a classic among the classics. Every dialogue spoken in the Sholay movie has become a cult line. The film has a very colorful sequence where the leading star cast are seen dancing on Holi song number ‘Holi Ke Din Dil Khil Jaate Hain’. Even the immortal Gabbar Singh’s famous line “Holi Kab Hai” is still fresh among movie enthusiasts.

Darr

The song Ang Se Ang Lagana from Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, and Sunny Deol starrer Darr has also used the Holi for presenting different emotions of the character. In this movie, obsessive lover, played by Shahrukh Khan, stalks a girl(Juhi Chawla) and is even challenged to visit her home during Holi despite police protection. And the scene where SRK throws confronts her lover and throws gulaal at her gave goosebumps to the audience.

Mohabbatein

Mohabbatein Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan is an adult romantic drama. The film is filled with varied emotions but the high point of the film is when Amitabh Bachchan allows the students of Gurukul to play Holi after being persuaded by Shah Rukh.

Goliyon Ki Raasleela- Ram Leela

This  Ranveer and Deepika starrer film has carved its place as a modern classic romantic film. In this film, the leading actors are seen flirting around with each other during the Holi celebration which has given a very colorful aspect to the film. 

Padmaavat

Sanjay Leela Bhansali again used the Holi celebration in another historical drama film ‘Padmavat’. In this film, the scene wherein Raghav Chetan wishes Allauddin Khilji on Holi and applies color on his scarred face had left an everlasting impact on the audience.
