The Bombay High Court has rejected Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s plea on defamation case against media houses and many private journalists.
The court said that the right to privacy also has to go with the freedom of the press. She lodged the complaint stating that many publications have shown derogatory remarks against her husband Raj Kundra, who has been arrested in the porn production and publication case.
"If a person is a public figure, it should not be construed that the person has been deemed to have sacrificed the right to privacy. None of this should involve Shilpa Shetty's parenting or her children," added the court.
The next hearing on its matter will be on September 20.
The High Court further said that news reports based on police sources cannot be termed as malicious and defamatory.
