The Indian union territory Ladakh is going to host the first edition of 'The Himalayan Film Festival 2021 from 24 September to 28 September. The festival is a part of the celebrations of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'.
The Amazon Originals movie 'Shershaah' directed by Vishnuvardhan shall be the opening film of the film festival. The authorities also decided that a Ladakhi documentary film 'Shepherdess of the Glaciers' directed by Christiane Mordelet and Stenzin Dorjai will be the closing film.
The auditorium at the Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra in Leh will screen Shershaah. The Union Territory of Ladakh is hosting the show.
Sushil Chaudhary, Founder and CEO, Picturetime said, "The theatre we installed last month at the height of 11,562 ft where we screened 'Bell Bottom', witnessed a mind-boggling response and now we are elated to collaborate with the Administration of UT Ladakh and participate in 'The Himalayan Film Festival', the highest altitude film festival in the world."
Many popular films from the states of Manipur, Assam, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh will be showcased during the festival.
