American singer-songwriter Britney Spears has recently announced she is “taking a break” from social media. The decision comes after her engagement to her boyfriend, Sam Asghari.
The fans got confused when they noticed that Spear's Instagram account had disappeared.
Later Spears clarified she has deleted the account.
She wrote on her Twitter account, “Don’t worry folks … just taking a little break from social media to celebrate my engagement!!! I’ll be back soon.”
The singer's Instagram account has always been under controversy for a long time. It has been a focus of the battle over her conservatorship which is a complex legal arrangement she was placed under in 2008.
The agreement had put her father Jamie Spears in charge of her finances, healthcare and other major decisions of her life.
Spears has publicly accused him and has described the conservatorship as “abusive”.
As the singer secretly battled to take back control of her life, fans thought that she was sending secret messages through her Instagram account. Her cryptic posts even inspired a podcast deducing their true meanings.
She announced her engagement to Asghari on Sunday with a post displaying a diamond ring. She had requested in her plea to the court to remove the conservatorship as the agreement was preventing her from marrying Asghari and starting a family.
