Lata Mangeshkar: Nightingale's health deteriorates again

Regarded as the Indian cinema’s singing institution she started her career in 1942 at the age of 13

India’s singing phenom Lata Mangeshkar’e health deteriorated again on Friday and was shifted back to Breach Candy Hospital ICU, family has said.

 

The family has said that the veteran singer is critical and her treatment is underway at the hospital.

 

On January 8, the singer tested positive for Covid-19 and was shifted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital for treatment.

 

She is being treated by Dr Pratit Samdani and his team at the hospital.

 

“Her ventilator support was removed as there was an improvement in her health. But today again she was put on ventilator support after she complained about chest pain,” Dr Pratit Samdani said while giving out details about her health conditions.

 

Lata Mangeshkar is considered as the Indian cinema’s singing institution. She started her career in 1942 at the age of only 13.

 

She has over 30,000 songs to her credit in various regional Indian languages.

 

Lata Mangeshkar is commonly known as Nightingale of India in India.

 

The legendary singer has various awards and honours to her credit including the Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and Dada Saheb Phalke Award.

 

She also has multiple National Film Awards to her credit.
