Raid in Anurag and Tapsee's house

The action is part of a tax evasion probe against Phantom Films, used to owned by Anurag Kashyap

The income tax department has reportedly raided the houses of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, Bollywood Actress Tapsee Pannu and also film maker Vikas Bahl house in connection with the production house called Phantom Films used to own by Kashyap. The searches are conducted at 20 other locations in Mumbai and Pune as a part of tax evasion case. Along with Phantom Films some managers of celebrity and talent management company KWAN are also being raided.


The Phantom Films was a film production and Distribution Company established by Anurag Kashyap, along with the director Vikramaditya Motwane, producer Madhu Mantena, and Vikas Bahl in the year 2011.The company had wrapped up its business in October 2018. Phantom Films produced some Bollywood hits including "Lootera", "Queen", “NH 10", "Masaan" etc.


The action is part of a tax evasion probe against Phantom Films. As per reports, some inter-linked transactions amongst the entities are investigated are now under the scanner of the department. The raids aimed at collecting more evidences to further probe tax evasion allegations. The officials seize laptops and documents for evaluation. Once the investigation are concluded suspects could be summoned by the agency through a notice.


Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said “The Income Tax department probes someone based on whatever information they get. The issue goes to court later,” during a BJP meeting.
