Amazon kick-starts new chapter as Bezos hands over CEO role

Now, Andy Jassy, who was in Amazon’s cloud-computing business will take over Bezos' place.

 

The online shopping giant, Amazon has begun a new chapter in its timeline after Jeff Bezos stepped down as CEO of the retailer.

 

Now, Andy Jassy, who was in Amazon’s cloud-computing business will take over Bezos' place. This replacement was announced in February.

 

Bezos is the biggest shareholder in the company, having a total stake worth of about $180 billion. He will still continue to be the highest shareholder.

 

During the pandemic, online shopping saw a hike in usage by its users, which turned profitable for Amazon. It made the company’s net worth of $1.7 trillion.

 

In a blog post to the employees this year, said he had planned to devote more time to the side projects he has. This includes his space exploration company Blue Origin and also the American newspaper ‘The Washington Post’.

 

The richest man in the world by Forbes estimate, will go on to fulfil his childhood dream of travelling to space. The 57-year-old is all set to depart from the Earth to space on 20th July, when Blue Origin will make its first flight.
