In the new list of suspected targets of Israeli spyware Pegasus includes Indian industrialist Anil Ambani as well as a senior official of Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group(ADAG).
Reportedly, the mobile phone numbers used by Anil Ambani and one other official of ADAG were added to the leaked list that was analysed by media partners of the Pegasus Project consortium.
According to a report published in 'The Wire' stated that apart from Anil Ambani, the other company official whose number appeared on the leaked list includes corporate communications chief Tony Jesudasan his wife.
The new list which includes many more prominent names that was released such as former Congress President Rahul Gandhi, poll strategist Prashant Kishor, TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee, and Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw were among the suspected targets of Israeli spyware Pegasus.
The report also added that it could not be confirmed whether Anil Ambani is currently using the number listed and there was no immediate comment from ADAG.
An international media corporate reported that over 300 verified mobile phone numbers which includes two ministers, over 40 journalists, three opposition leaders and one sitting judge besides scores of businesspersons and activists in India could have been the suspected target for hacking through the spyware.
The reports have been published by The Wire in collaboration with 16 other international publications including the Washington Post, The Guardian and Le Monde as media collaborates to an investigation conducted by Paris a based media non-profit organisation named as Forbidden Stories and rights group Amnesty International.
The enquiry focuses on a leaked list of more than fifty thousand mobile phone numbers from across the world that are believed to the suspected target of surveillance through Pegasus software of Israeli surveillance company NSO Group.
