Indices open on flat note; Sensex falls over 200 pts, Nifty below 17,300

Domestic indices slipped into the negative territory after opening with gains on Tuesday.


Indian equity benchmark indices Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex and broader NSE Nifty 50 opened in the green on Tuesday but soon erased all gains to trade with losses.


The BSE Sensex was down 166.54 points or 0.29 percent at 58,130 and Nifty 50 index declined 51.30 points or 0.30 percent to 17,326.


Bank Nifty was trading flat, falling below 36,500 levels. India VIX was still in gains.


ITC was up1.86 percent as the top Sensex gainer, followed by Asian Paints, HUL, Titan and Bharti Airtel.


Axis Bank was the top loser, followed by Sun Pharma, Kotak Mahindra Bank, ICICI Bank, and Dr Reddy’s Labs.


In international market, the Asian indices, bourses in Shanghai and Hong Kong were trading with gains in mid-session deals, while Seoul was in the negativeterritory and Tokyo closed in gains.
