The Americans Airlines and IndiGo have validates codeshare agreement that permits the former to retail seats on the Indian carrier's flights that are operating on 29 routes.
The joint statement informed, "The codeshare, which will require United States and Indian governments' approvals, is expected to begin in October, as American launches new service between New York (JFK) and Delhi on October 31 this year and between Seattle (SEA) and Bengaluru on January 4, 2022."
The one-way codeshare agreement will place the American's code on the selected 29 domestic routes of IndiGo which has also provided a appropriate option for American Airlines customers to travel within Indian sub-continent after landing in Bengaluru or national capital, Delhi.
When the one-way codeshare agreement comes effective, Americans will be able retail their seats, on its distribution system of IndiGo flights on the selected 29 domestic routes.
In a two-way codeshare agreement, both the airlines on its distribution system can retail their seats of other's flights.
The IndiGo Airlines at present has a two-way codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines and a one-way codeshare collaboration with Qatar Airways.
The Chief Revenue Officer of American Airlines, Vasu Raja has said, whether their passengers travels for business purpose or any other purpose, this new collaboration makes it easy to reach all four corners of India
Raja further stated, "Today we're adding 29 new routes to our map as a result of this agreement, providing customers with even more options around the globe."
IndiGo is one of the country's largest airline by number of passengers carried.
IndiGo airlines has fleet of more than 275 aircrafts that operates over 1,100 daily flights which connects 70 domestic and 24 international destinations.
