Market opened at red, Sensex falls over 400 pts, Nifty trades below 17,700

Market indices were trading red today, a day before the expiry of September F&O contracts of Nifty and Bank Nifty

Indian share market benchmarks Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex and broader NSE Nifty 50 were trading weak on Wednesday, a day before the expiry of September futures and options (F&O) contracts of Nifty and Bank Nifty.

 

BSE Sensex was trading 446. 09 points or 0.75 percent lower at 59,221. While, NSE Nifty 50 declined 103.55 points or 0.58 percent to 17,645.

 

Tech Mahindra is the worst performer at BSE Sensex, declining at 2.04 percent, followed by ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Bajaj-Auto, IndusInd Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) were among the other top BSE Sensex laggards.

 

NTPC rising with 6.93 percent, Power Grid Corporation of India, Dr Reddy’s Labs, Nestle India and M&M were top BSE Sensex gainers.

 

In the international market, the Asian indices, bourses in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Seoul were trading in deep red in mid-session deals.
