Indian stock markets benchmarks began Friday’s trading session flat with a positive bias amid mixed global cues.
The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex was trading 125 points or 0.24 per cent higher at 52,778 in initial deals, while the broader NSE Nifty 50 advanced 38 points or 0.24 per cent to 15,817.
Tech Mahindra was the top index gainer, surging over 8 per cent, followed by HCL Tech, Power Grid, HDFC, Dr Reddy laboratories and M&M among other.
While Bajaj Finserv, Asian Paints, Bharti Airtel and SBI were among the index laggards.
On the global side, Asian shares, bourses in Shanghai, Seoul, Tokyo and Hong Kong were in the red territory, while stocks on Wall Street ended on a positive note in overnight sessions.
