Indian stock market benchmarks Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex and broader NSE Nifty 50 began the day’s trade flat amidst mixed global cues.
BSE Sensex was up 0.10 per cent at 54,550 while the broader NSE Nifty was up 0.13 per cent, breaching the 16,300 mark.
Nifty Bank was up 0.28 per cent, holding below at 36,000. India VIX was seen rising higher and broader markets were outshine during the opening bell.
IndusInd Bank was the top Sensex gainer, rising with 3 per cent, followed by M&M, Maruti, Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma and NTPC, surging more than 1% each.
While HCL Technologies, Titan, Nestle India and Infosys were among the worst performing stocks in the Sensex pack.
On the global side, the Asian shares failed to catch a firm lead from equities onWall Street session which ended on a positive note on Friday.
Bourses in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Seoul were with losses in mid-session deals, while Tokyo was trading in gains.
