Sensex drops 259.75 points, Nifty declines 77.15 points

Domestic stock market benchmarks Sensex and Nifty were trading in red on Wednesday

Indian stock market benchmarks Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex and broader NSE  Nifty 50 were trading nearly half a per cent down on Wednesday amid weak global cues.
BSE Sensex was trading 259.75 points or 0.49 per cent lower at 52,319 in its  initial deals, while the broader Nifty 50  fell 77.15 points or 0.49 per cent to 15,669.
Dr Reddy’s, HDFC twins, Axis Bank, Kotak Bank, TCS, Reliance Industries and Infosys were the laggards in BSE index, while Nestle India led them, down over 1 per cent.
On the other hand IndusInd Bank was the top gainer in the Sensex pack advanced nearly 2 per cent, followed by Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel and HUL.
Nifty Pharma gained nearly one per cent, after trading red in initial deals on Wednesday. Besides Nifty Pharma and Nifty Metal, all the sectoral indices were trading in losses with Nifty Financial Services leading the charge.
Worldwide, the Asian shares, bourses in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Seoul and Tokyo were trading in red territory in mid-session deals while shares on Wall Street also ended with losses in overnight sessions.
