Indian equity indices Sensex and Nifty 50 opened on a positive note on Friday amid a positive trend in global markets.
On Friday, Sensex opened at 52,877.16, 178.16 points, or 0.34%, while the Nifty 50 was at 15,839.35, up 48.90 points.
The top gainers were IT stocks; Tata Steel was at the top in the Sensex pack, rising over 3 per cent followed by HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki India.
Investors remain unimpressed with Reliance Industries as its continues to slip further. Besides, among the laggards were HUL, Asian Paints, Kotak Bank and Nestle India.
Global markets like bourses in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Seoul and Tokyo were mostly trading with gains in mid-session deals.
