Indian stock market benchmarks Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex and broader NSE Nifty 50 began the day’s trade in the positive territory and both the indices jumped 0.74 per cent on the opening bell.
The BSE Sensex was trading 444.17 points or 0.85 per cent higher at 52,642 in its initial deals, while the broader NSE Nifty jumped 129.15 points or 0.83 per cent to 15,761.
Bajaj Finance was the top index gainer, surging over 3 per cent, followed by Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, HUL, Infosys and ICICI Bank.
While, Asian Paints, PowerGrid, Bajaj Auto and Dr Reddy’s were among the other index laggards.
Stock markets were closed on Wednesday on account of ‘Eid-al-Adha ’.
In international stock market, Bourses in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Seoul and Tokyo were trading with strong gains in the mid-session deals. US Wall Street stock posted their second straight daily gain on midnight sessions.
