The BSE Sensex was trading 211.04 points or 0.40 per cent higher at 52,695.71 and Nifty 50 inched 65.10 points or 0.41 per cent up to 15,787.30 in their initial deals.
Bajaj Auto was the top gainer in the Sensex pack rising over 1 per cent, followed by Tata Steel, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank and Reliance Industries.
On the other side, TCS, Infosys, Tech Mahindra and Dr Reddy’s were among the laggards.
Broader markets also moved higher along with the equity benchmark indices. India VIX was gaining 2.8 per cent. All sectoral indices were up with gains, Bank Nifty gained 0.60 per cent and Nifty Realty Index was up 0.74 per cent.
On a global side, equity benchmarks in Asia, bourses in Seoul and Shanghai were trading green in mid-session deals, while Tokyo and Hong Kong were in the trading red.
