Sensex soars 500 points, Nifty 50 needs to hold 17,800 to aim for 17,900

Domestic market benchmarks were trading with gains on Thursday

Indian share market benchmarks Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex and broader NSE Nifty 50 began Thursday’s session on a positive note.


The BSE Sensex was trading at 59,749, up 559.38 points or 0.95 percent and broader Nifty was at 17,815, higher by 169.70 points or 0.96 percent.


Bank Nifty managed to stand at 37,800 while midcap and small-cap were outperforming indices and India VIX was tradingin losses.


Titan was the top Sensex gainer, soaring more than 9 percent, followed by Maruti Suzuki India, IndusInd Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, Asian Paints and Bajaj Auto.


Bajaj Finserv, Hindustan Unilever and Ultratech Cement are the only three laggards on Sensex.


In the international market, the Asian benchmarks, bourses in Hong Kong, Seoul and Tokyo were trading on a positive note in mid-session deals, while Shanghai market was closed for the holidays.


US equity market indices also ended with gains in the overnight session.
