3M Moderna COVID vaccine doses arrive in Dhaka

Bangladesh is witnessing a spike in coronavirus cases for the past several months.

Bangladesh received three million COVID-19 vaccine doses of Moderna as a gift from the United States under the Covax facility. Currently, Bangladesh is witnessing a spike in coronavirus cases for the past several months.


According to reports, a Qatar Airways cargo airplane landed at Shahjalal International Airport with the vaccines at around 9 pm, Shahriar Sazzad, chief of DGHS unit at the airport said.


Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, Health Minister Zahid Maleque, along with other officials, were present at the venue to receive the consignment.


Meanwhile, the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken tweeted, “Today the U.S. is donating three million additional doses of the Moderna vaccine to Bangladesh via #COVAX. Sharing these COVID-19 vaccine doses builds upon our decades-long partnership with Bangladesh to promote public health and security, in Bangladesh and around the world."
