Covid: Woman in Bihar gets Covaxin, Covishield doses in a span of 5 minutes

The women is now demanding strict action against the alleged negligence of the camp

A woman in Bihar was administered shots of Covishield and Covaxin Covid-19 vaccines in a span of five minutes. The incident reportedly took place on June 16 at a village in Punpun block of rural Patna in Bihar.

The women Sunila Devi is in stable condition and is under the observation of doctors. If she continues to experience no adverse effects, she will be tested for antibodies after 14 days.

Sunila Devi said she had gone to a vaccination camp at a school in Beldarichak on June 16. She claimed that after completing the registration, she stood in a queue after which she was administered a Covishield jab. The health officials asked her to wait for observation for five minutes. Sunila Devi said when she was waiting in the observation room, another nurse came and administered a jab of Covaxin.

The health department has, meanwhile, sought an explanation from the nurses at the vaccination camp, Chanchala Devi and Sunita Kumari.

A team of medical experts have been deployed at the vaccination camp to investigate the incident. However, the staff at the vaccination camp has denied any breach of protocols. In the first attempt to vaccinate she was withdrawn due to a prick. The nursing staff then located another spot on her arm and vaccinated her with the first dose. She supposed that she was vaccinated twice, which is not true at all.

The women are now demanding strict action against the alleged negligence of the camp.
