India records over 40,000 Covid-19 cases, 490 deaths in a day

Kerala recorded 23,500 fresh Covid-19 cases and continues to be the top contributor

The country saw a rise in daily Covid-19 cases on Thursday, as well as in covid-related deaths in 24 hours span. According to the latest data by the union health ministry, 41,195 new covid-19 cases were registered and 490 casualties were reported in a day.

 

Kerala recorded 23,500 fresh Covid-19 cases and continues to be the top contributor, followed by Maharashtra which saw 5,560 people testing positive for the disease. The total number of active cases of coronavirus has plunge to 3,87,987 and now consists only 1.21 per cent of the total caseload.

 

As per the latest health bulletin, India has achieved its highest recovery rate today at 97.45 per cent, a total of 39,069 patients recovered in the last 24 hours.

The fatality count stands at 4,29,669 and as many as 3,12,60,050 people have recovered from the infection as of Thursday. The cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in India so has reached 52.36 crore.
