India reports lowest COVID tally in 75 days with 60,471 new cases

The recoveries continue to outnumber the daily new cases for the 33nd consecutive day

In a ray of hope for India, the worst hit of coronavirus in second wave, India records lowest 60,471 new infections in the last 24 hours. This is the lowest single-day covid surge in 75 days as informed the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday.


Now the total cases have reached 2,95,70,88. The active caseload today stands at 9,13,378. A total of 2726 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the death total toll to 3,77,031.


The recoveries continue to outnumber the daily new cases for the 33nd consecutive day. India witnessed 1,17,525 recoveries in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate of India has reached 2,82,80,472.


Meanwhile, a total of 38,13,75,984 samples has been tested for COVID-19, up to June 14. Out of these, 17,51,358 samples were tested yesterday and 25,90,44,072 vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
