India witnessed a rise in Covid-19 cases and deaths as the festival of Navratri began on Thursday.
The country registered 22,431 new cases after a gap of two days and 318 deaths on Thursday.
Whereas on Wednesday, India had reported 18,833 news cases and 278 casualties.
Although, the total active cases saw a decline of 2,489 cases in the last day. At present, the country's active case count stands at 2,44,198, that is 0.72 percent of the total Covid-19 cases registered.
A total of 4,49,856 people has lost their lives due to the infection to date and the recovery count has rose to 3,32,00,258.
The weekly positivity rate stands 1.68 percent, still less than 3 percent for the last 104 days.
And, the daily positivity rate is firm at 1.57 percent which remained less than 3 percent for the last 38 days.
India's cumulative Covid-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 92.60 crore, out of which 66.93 crore and 25.66 crore have been administered with the first dose and second dose, respectively.
Presently, only Kerala accounts for the maximum number of covid cases in the country. The state on Wednesday has reported 12,616 fresh Covid-19 cases and 134 deaths.
Maharashtra has reported 2,876 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours.
As per to the Union Health Ministry's data, the states that have more than thousand active cases includes Karnataka with 11,848, Kerala with 1,22,996, Maharashtra with 36,767, Andhra Pradesh with 8,754, Assam with 4,245, Odisha with 4,591, Himachal Pradesh with 1,477, Jammu & Kashmir with 1,065, Manipur with 1,777, Meghalaya with 1,310, Mizoram with 16,075, Tamil Nadu with 16,637 and West Bengal with 7,91 active cases.
