India on Sunday reported 58,419 new Covid-19 cases over 24 hours—the slowest daily rise in 81 days, according to data posted by the health ministry. The country recorded 1,576 deaths from the disease.
Its total case load stands at 2,98,81,965 and fatalities at 3,86,713.
The daily positivity rate stands at 3.22 per cent, the thirteenth consecutive day it has remained below 5 per cent. The World Health Organisation’s (WHO) norm consider positivity rate below 5 per cent to be within the safe zone.
COVID-19 is continuing to spread around the world, with more than 178.9 million confirmed cases and 3,874,879 deaths across nearly 200 countries recorded since China reported its first cases to the World Health Organization (WHO) in December 2019.
The US remains the worst-hit country with 34,401,712, followed by India, Brazil, France and Turkey.
