The Finance Minister of India Nirmala Sitharaman will initiate the much-endorsed National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) of brownfield assets on Monday.
This will help the central public sector enterprises (CPSEs) and other ventures to generate an alternative source of finance for new infrastructure projects.
The NMP plan will incorporate a four-year pipeline of the union government’s brownfield infrastructure assets.
Niti Aayog in a statement said, “Besides providing visibility to investors, NMP will also serve as a medium-term roadmap for the asset monetisation initiative of the government."
And, also the NMP book will be released on Monday.
The 2021-22 Union Budget had set a lot of weightage on asset monetisation as a means to raise innovative and alternative financing for infrastructure.
Lately, Tuhin Kanta Pandey who is secretary of the department of investment and public asset management (Dipam) had noted that the union government was preparing a NMP of about rupees 6 lakh crore.
This plan will include several range of assets which will include pipelines, power transmission lines and national highway stretches.
