As the state of West Bengal witnessed an intense political show of strength, West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee erupted a TMC versus Bharatiya Janata Party Hindutva war.
Both Mamata and her former aide and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari are temple hopping. The CM visited Shiv temple where she offered prayers to Lord Shiva before filing her nomination papers for the Bengal assembly election, which she will contest from Nandigram. From a few days, people are witnessing the 66-year-old playing the Hindu card by sometimes chanting the verses from the Chandi Path or visiting temples.
Meanwhile, reacting to Mamata's shift from 'Inshallah' and 'Khuda Hafiz', Suvendu said, "Yesterday, she prayed to Ram at Janakinath temple, and that too wearing slippers. Now, she has stopped chanting Inshallah, Khuda Hafiz...Hindu dharma is on her lips. She gave ticket to Sayoni Ghosh, who abused Hindu deities. Why does she (Mamata) need to stress on her Hindu surname now?"
On the other hand, Congress poked fun at didi's recitation of Chandipath calling her visits to temples the 'Modi Effect.'
