AIADMK, BJP commence talks on seat sharing in forthcoming TN polls

AIADMK has offered about 15 seats to the saffron party, says official.

The ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has commenced the talks for sharing seats for the assembly election in the state.


Several BJP leaders, including state president L Murugan and Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy, met Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and his deputy O Panneerselvam. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit the state on Sunday.


According to an official, AIADMK has offered about 15 seats to the saffron party. The official said that the BJP has asked for more seats. The AIADMK, however, does not want to give more seats to the BJP but is willing to negotiate and offer party the seats that it wants to contest from.


Meanwhile, other parties in the state are also holding talks to discuss poll alliances and seat-sharing. All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK) founder R Sarath Kumar met Makkal Needhi Maiam chief and actor Kamal Haasan to discuss a possible poll alliance, reported The New Indian Express.
