Give BJP five more years for an 'infiltrator-free' Assam: Amit Shah

He pledged to solve the flood and erosion problem of Assam.

While addressing an election campaign rally at Margherita in Tinsukia district of Assam on Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made Assam free of agitation and insurgency in the last five years. He promised, if given chance, coming five more years they will make the state “infiltrator-free” too.

“We do what we say. I promise to the people of Assam that give us five years more, infiltration will become a [thing of the] past for Assam,” Shah said.

He claimed that with no insurgency and agitation issues in the state anymore, there is now only development and a peaceful environment. He also pledged to solve the flood and erosion problem of Assam.

Lashing out at the Congress party, Shah suggested that since “Rahul Baba” (Congress leader Rahul Gandhi) has partnered with All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal, they may not be able to stop the infiltration.

“Can Assam stay safe by staying with Badruddin Ajmal? What do you want violence or peace, guns or employment, infiltration or development? Congress will come, they will talk in different ways, they will talk about different communities and they will work to create fights among the people. These are the methods of their politics. Rahul Baba, congratulate you on your method. We follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas’ [Together, for everyone’s growth, with everyone’s trust] slogan,” he said.
