'Restaurant on Wheels' will offer fine-dining experience to trains lovers, Mumbai

The "Restaurant on Wheels" has been made using a scrap rail coach and will become a landmark eating house

The Indian Railways' Central Railway (CR) zone has set up "Restaurant on Wheels" at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai under the catering policy of Innovative Ideas.

 

The "Restaurant on Wheels" has been made using a scrap rail coach and will become a landmark eating house.

 

The restaurant is located at the Heritage Gully, opposite CSMT, platform no 18.

 

The coach will be a fine-dining area that offers a different experience to diners and will accommodate 40 persons at a time with ten tables.

 

The restaurant's interiors has been designed in such a way that the public will enjoy the experience of dining in a rail-themed set up.

 

The period of license for the rail coach restaurant is for one year and is extendable based on the performance.

 

The restaurant will also be responsible to maintain the corridor surrounding clean at their own cost.

 

The menu and the rates of the food items will be decided by Licensee as per market prices that is approved by the Railways.

 

Several types of cuisines will be available at the restaurant which is open for both passengers and general public.

 

"Restaurant on Wheels" will operate following all Covid-19 protocols, issued by the Government for Restaurant.

 

Railways is planning to explore multiple possibility of opening similar coach restaurants on Mumbai division such as Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Kalyan, Neral, Lonavala and Igatpuri.
