On National Girl Child Day, Union Minister Smriti Irani along the image shared a message which said, "My daughters are my pride who has set out onto different frontiers with determination and confidence. Give a shout out to a Desh Ki Beti and celebrate their achievements."
As National Girl Child Day is being celebrated Shrishti Goswami became Uttarakhand's Chief Minister for a day, Shrishti, 19, is a student at BSM PG College Roorkee and lives in Daulatpur village in Haridwar. She attended an official meeting to review various schemes run by the state government. Shrishti will review various schemes run by the Trivender Singh Rawat-led government. Schemes on Atal Ayushman Scheme, Smart City project and Home stay Scheme by the tourism department and other development projects. Earlier in May 2018, Shrishti became the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Bal Vidhan Sabha. She has been a part of many initiatives and participated in several programs on International Girl Child Day.
Punjab has announced January 2021 to be the "month of the girl child". The scheme Dheeiyan Di Lohri has also been launched. The Odisha government will honour individuals and organisations who have worked towards mitigating child marriage on the National Girl Child Day. Madhya Pradesh will celebrate National Girl Child Day with the theme of "Aware girl child, Able Madhya Pradesh" under the scheme Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao. From January 24 to 30, the state will also observe the National Girl Child week.
The National Scheme of Incentive to girls for secondary education scheme is a pan India scheme managed by the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development, and Government of India. It is primarily for the benefit of girls belonging to the backward classes of India. The CBSE Udaan scheme for girls is administered by the Central Board of Secondary Education through the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The focus of this scheme is to increase the enrolment of girls in prestigious engineering and technical colleges across India.
Last year 2020 Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed upon several aspects about the development of women in India. He also specifically indicated his government’s resolve to revise the minimum age at which women can legally tie the knot in India. “We have formed a committee to ensure that the daughters are no longer suffering from malnutrition and they are married off at the right age. As soon as the report is submitted, appropriate decisions will be taken about the age of marriage of daughters.”
