The wall of barrack number 6 collapsed around 5 in the morning, Manoj Kumar Singh who is Bhind Superintendent of Police told Press Trust of India over phone.
The Superintendent of Police said that twenty-two prisoners were injured and one of them serious injuries after a wall of a barrack in Bhind district jail of Madhya Pradesh collapsed early morning on Saturday.
The police official said that there were 255 prisoners inside the jail building at the time of the incident.
He said, "One of the inmates, who suffered serious injuries was rushed to Gwalior for advanced medical treatment, while other injured prisoners were taken to the district hospital."
The police officer also added that as soon as they got information about the incident, they rushed to the jail for rescue operation.
Mr. Singh further said that the jail building was quite old and the wall might have caved in as a result of heavy rainfall over the last couple of days.
