Actor-Politician MGR remembered on his 104th birth anniversary

The creators of Kangana Ranaut's ‘Thalaivi’ presented Arvind Swami’s first teaser look to be seen in the iconic role of MGR.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid tribute to Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Dr MG Ramachandran on his birth anniversary today. He said that MGR reigned on the hearts of people from film screen. He said after flagging off eight trains connecting different regions of the country to Kevadiya  in Gujarat and inaugurating several railways related projects in the state, via video conferencing. Modi praised his accomplishments on film screen and political platform. He noted that MGR’s political journey was dedicated to poor and he worked tirelessly for a dignified life of the down-trodden.
Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, Welfare Minister M. Kandasamy garlanded the MGR statue on behalf of the territorial administration on the occasion.  

AIADMK legislature party leader and party East Secretary A Anbazhagan and party functionaries garlanded the MGR statue at the party headquarters at Uppalam and later took out a silent procession and garlanded the statue in front of the new bus stand to mark the occasion. Both AIADMK and DMK leaders and cadres also garlanded the statue to mark the occasion.

The creators of Kangana Ranaut's Thalaivi presented Arvind Swami’s first teaser look to be seen in the iconic role of MGR. Kangana Ranaut stars as J Jayalalithaa and the directors shared the first picture featuring the two actors together.

Kangana shared the video on his social media pages with a caption reading: “Here is a tribute to legend #MGR on his 104th birthday, the revolutionary leader of Tamil Nadu and a true mentor of #Thalaivi, the emblematic leader! “
