All you need to know about Birendra Krishna Bhadra's recitation of Mahishasura Mardini

Mahishasura Mardini is a Bengali radio programme that has been broadcast since 1931 on All India Radio

Mahalaya is celebrated before Durga puja when Hindus pay homage to their ancestors and Bengalis across the globe with much celebration this time of year. 

On this day every Bengali wakes up at 4 am and turn on their radios to listen to the recital of Mahisasura Mardini by legendary Birendra Krishna Bhadra to mark the beginning of the 
Durga Puja. 

 Birendra Krishna Bhadra’s recitation of Mahishasura Mardini is one of the most famous and has no substitute till now nor will ever come. 

Mahishasura Mardini is a Bengali radio programme that has been broadcast since 1931 on All India Radio (AIR). 

 Chandipath is done by Birendra Krishna Bhadra and his voice has a magnificent effect which is still respected by every bengalis. The primary source of power is Goddess Chandika, the eternal. 
Mahishasuramardini is the one and half-hour audio program of Chandipath along with Bengali classical music, devotional songs,  and acoustics; the programme is aired every year at day-break on Mahalaya.

AIR had experimented with Mahisasura Mardini in the voices of other famous artists like Manabendra Mukhopadhyay, Arati Mukhopadhyay, Tarun Banerjee, Krishna Dasgupta, Utpala Sen, Shyamal Mitra, and also Sandhya Mukhopadhyay but no one could create the same magic as Bhadra.
