Andhra man loses life savings as termites eat cash worth Rs 5 Lakhs

The man trades in pigs and uses cash for his transactions in the business.

An Andhra Pradesh’s businessman in Krishna district, took his hard-earned money and kept it locked in a trunk instead of a bank. But sadly, the trunk was not as secure as he thought it to be.

The moment he opened the trunk, he could see his money turned into pieces of scrap paper in months as termites ate into them, making large holes on the bundles of Rs 500 and 200 currency notes.

Bijli Jamalayya, a resident of Mylavaram, received the shock of his life. Jamalayya trades in pigs and uses cash for his transactions in the business. He used to stack the money in his trunk instead of using a bank. He dreamt of accumulating enough money to build a house and saved up about Rs 5 lakh in the trunk.

The small-time businessman took the scrap money and distributed among the local children who were playing on the road. When the children were seen with such huge sums of cash, the police were informed about the incident. Police later found out the origins of the cash upon investigation.
