Bihar: Boat entangles in high tension wire leaving dozens injured, missing

Most of the passengers were daily wagers who were returning home after visiting Mokama and Patna.

A boat carrying an approximate of 125-150 people in the Ganga river got entangled with a high tension wire in Bihar's Vaishali district on Saturday, leaving over three dozen people injured, 15-20 people reportedly missing.

 

The boat left from Kacchi Dargah ghat at Fatuha in rural Patna for Raghopur riverine area of Vaishali at around 8 pm on Saturday.

 

Most of the passengers were daily wagers who were returning home after visiting Mokama and Patna.

 

When the boat reached the middle of the river, it collided with a high tension which led to the major incident where three dozen people on board suffered burn injuries and many fell in the river and are reportedly missing.

 

Soon after the accident, Vaishali and Patna administration reached the spot and started the rescue operation. The injured were admitted to various private hospitals in Fatuha.
