EC Announces Poll Dates Of Five States; West Bengal to See Eight-Phase Elections

In the first phase of polling in West Bengal, elections will be held in 5 districts and 30 assembly seats.

The Election Commission of India finally announced the much-awaited election dates for Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Puducherry today. The poll panel at a press conference at 4.30 pm in Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan declared the schedule for elections to the legislative assemblies of the five states. The states are due for elections in April-May.


In the first phase of polling in West Bengal, elections will be held in 5 districts and 30 assembly seats. The districts include Purulia, West Midnapore Part I, Bankura Part I, East Midnapore Part I and Jhargram. The polling will be held on 27 March.
