ED finds huge cash at home of Partha Chatterjee's aide

Officials have taken a cash-counting machine to Arpita's apartment, which is being searched since afternoon

Officials of the Enforcement Directorate have found more cash at the home of
Arpita Mukherjee, a close aide of arrested Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee.

Last week, ED officials found Rs 21 crore in cash from the house of Arpita
Mukherjee. The probe agency had raided the residence of Arpita Mukherjee in
connection with an alleged teacher recruitment scam in West Bengal.

Arpita Mukherjee later told the ED that the mountain of cash recovered from her
home belonged to Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee.

The agency is in the process of counting the cash. Four counting machines have
been brought to Mukherjee’s flat in Belgharia, indicating that the amount might be
bigger than the previous recovery when the agency found Rs 21 crore in cash
from one of her residential premises. These machines were brought from SBI
Regional HQ in Kolkata.

According to the news agency, besides cash, gold ornaments, gold bars, property
deeds and property-related documents have been seized by the ED.
