Himachal Pradesh was badly hit by rainfalls and cloudburst which resulted in loss of property and life.
State Disaster Management Authority of Himachal Pradesh has said that there has been a loss of Rs 632 crores in the state due to incidents of rainfall and cloudburst. Till now 211 people have lost their lives including 438 animals in such incidents.
The director of the authority, Sudesh Kumar Mokhta gave this information. He also added that 109 houses have also been damaged.
Himachal being a hilly state, incidents like landslides are very frequent in the monsoon season. This hampers the transportation of the state. The Chandigarh-Manali is blocked due to a landslide near the Mandi district. Currently the restoration work is ongoing.
