J-K: Hexacopter shot down 6 km inside Indian border, 5 kg explosives recovered

A drone was shot down by the J &K Police in Akhnoor on Friday.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police has shot down a hexacopter drone in Akhnoor area of Jammu around 8 kilometers inside the International Border (IB) on 23 July.

J & K Police said that they has also recovered 5 kilogram of improvised explosive devices (IED) which were to be assembled and used by terrorists.

Agencies are enquiring closely whether Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) is behind the hexacopter drone activity and using this methodology for a terror attack as in previous cases.

This was not the first time that a drone was spotted in Jammu and Kashmir or near the International Borders.

Several drones were spotted in the last one month on multiple locations in Jammu & Kashmir since the blasts at the Jammu airbase on late June raising threat of a drone attack in the state.

Reportedely, J&K DGP Dilbag Singh recently directed police officers to remain extremely alert as the terror troops are continuously trying to use drone methodology for terrorist activities.
