Renowned writer and bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar moved to the Bombay High Court in Kangana Ranaut's passport petition.
Akhtar has now filed an intervention application before the Bombay High Court against Kangana claiming that the actress suppressed facts in her passport petition.
Javed also claimed that she failed to disclose his case of criminal defamation against the actress in her petition.
Javed in his application said that a criminal defamation complaint was filed against her for her remarks about him during a TV interview in November 2020.
He also added that the criminal proceedings against the actress are still pending.
A fragment from the application stated, "In spite of knowledge of the criminal case (Akhtar's complaint) pending before the magistrate's court, Andheri, the petitioner no 1 (Ranaut) deliberately failed to disclose the same...With an intention to mislead and obtain a favourable order.”
The controversial actor Kangana has been trying to get her passport renewed from past one month to enable her to travel to Budapest, Hungary for a film shoot but the authority was delaying the renewal quoting the criminal cases pending against her.
However, Kangana's advocate Rizwan Siddiquee alleged that only an FIR had been registered against the actress and criminal proceedings in that case were yet to begin. A plea filed by her advocate stated that her passport expires on September 15 and she needs to travel abroad from June 15 to August 30.
