A leading bakery chain in Kolkata has made a 25 kilogram chocolate idol of Maa Durga.

The chocolate Durga will be ''immersed'' in milk after Vijaya Dashami on Friday and the milkshake of it will be distributed among the underprivileged children.

A spokesperson of the bakery said that the handcrafted 4 ft high Maa Durga idol made of Belgian chocolate evoked huge curiosity among revellers who filled its iconic original outlet on Park Street.

The spokesperson said that it took chef Vikas Kumar and his team over a week to construct the idol of Maa Durga after extended research and numerous visits to clay-modellers' hub Kumartuli in north Kolkata.

The team used cocoa butter to give a solid base to the texture and to avoid cracks as well as to give an earthy look to the idol,

The creative initiative was the bakery''s tribute to the biggest festival of Bengal .
