Neeraj Chopra, Ravi Dahiya & Lovlina Borgohain are nominated for the Khel Ratna honor

The outstanding 11 athletes were selected for the India’s highest sporting honour, Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna

Neeraj Chopra, the javelin thrower became only the second Indian to win an individual Olympic gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, while wrestler Ravi Dahiya picked the silver medal for India were nominated for the Khel Ratna on Wednesday.

 

The outstanding 11 athletes were selected for the India’s highest sporting honour, Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna.

 

Boxer Lovlina Borgohain picked a bronze medal at the Tokyo Games 2020 while the magnificent hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh and Test skipper Mithali Raj of women cricket were also recommended for the Khel Ratna

 

The groundbreaking Sunil Chhetri also became the country’s first footballer to be recommended for the honour by the selection committee.

 

The national sports awards announcement was delayed in order to consider the performance of the athletes in the Tokyo Paralympics.

 

Para-athletes those have won a gold medal each in the Tokyo Paralympics has completed the recommendation list for the Khel Ratna which includes shooter Avani Lekhara and Manish Narwal, javelin thrower Sumit Antil as well as the shuttlers Pramod Bhagat and Krishna Nagar.

 

The selection committee also picked 35 athletes for the Arjuna award including athletes Cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, para Table tennis player Bhavina Patel, para shuttler Suhas Yathiraj and also the high jumper Nishad Kumar are selected for the Arjuna award.

 

The Men’s hockey team that won a historic bronze medal for India in the Olympics will also receive the honor of Arjuna award.
