Hairpura is the town in Gujrat’s Surat where Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose took over the presidentship of the Congress party in 1938. Haripura is located near the town of Kadod in the Surat district of Gujarat. It is about 13 kilometers northeast of Bardoli. During the Indian independence movement, it was the site of the annual session of the Indian National Congress in 1938. This is known as the 'Haripura Session'. Haripura is closely associated with Netaji. A meeting of the Indian National Congress was held in Haripura from 19 to 22 February 1938 under the chairmanship of Subhash Chandra Bose. In 1938, he was elected President of the Haripura Congress Session. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel chose Haripura for the convention.
51 bullock carts were decorated by Maharaja Pratap Singh Solanki, the then Maharaja of Vansada State. The famous painter, Nandlal Bose, also put up seven posters for the Haripura session at Mahatma Gandhi's request.
Every year, the town organises a special event on Netaji's birth anniversary on January 23. The Centre after declared that the day will now be celebrated as Parakram Divas, special events was arranged at Haripura.
