NSCN, Kuki rebels held in Manipur with arms

The defence security forces had arrested four insurgents of a Kuki outfit and a top NSCN-IM cadre in Manipur on Saturday.

The police sources said that four committed ultras of Kuki National Front (Mangkholam Kipgen faction) outfit have been arrested from the jungles around Kangpokpi district's Gopibung village.

 

The Assam Rifles jawans and police sources had jointly led the operation to the recovery of two 9 mm pistols along with one magazine each and some live ammunition from the possession of the militants.

 

In a following operation, the Assam Rifles troopers arrested a top nucleus of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah) on National Highway 2 at Maram in Manipur's Senapati district that borders Nagaland.

 

One of the security forces spokesperson stated that during an interrogation, the NSCN (IM) rebel had unveiled that he was working for the Kuki outfit since 2002 and he with an another cadre was also implicating in extortion and tax collection activities for the past two months.

 

The core comrade associated with the arrested NSCN (IM) militant fled with the collected money on seeing the security forces.
