Over 1.5 crore Indians recorded and uploaded the national anthem on the government's portal Rashtra Gaan to mark India's 75th Independence Day, informed the Indian Ministry of Culture.
The initiative was taken by the government which created a programme to enable people to sing the national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ and upload it on the website by 15 August. It was mandatory for the school children to take part in it.
The Ministry said that this is the evidence of the inherent unity, strength and harmony of the country.
According to the statement issued by the Ministry, Eminent artists, scholars, top leaders, senior officers, soldiers, sportsmen to farmers, labourers, people with special needs came together and sang the National Anthem in one voice.
The program took place after PM Narendra Modi requested citizens of the country to sing the national anthem together in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme last month.
