Over 50 porn films seized from two apps in Raj Kundra case: Mumbai police

Kundra along with his associate Ryan Thorpe has also been arrested for the pornography racket.

The Bombay High Court adjourned hearing on a plea filed by businessman Raj Kundra claiming that his arrest in the pornographic films case was illegal as he had not served any legal notices as per law.

Raj Kundra, along with his associate IT technician, Ryan Thorpe has also been arrested, and has requested for interim bail pending hearing of his plea seeking quashing of the case.

The Mumbai Police told high court that 51 pornographic films have been seized from the accused along with material from his personal laptops, mobile phones and storage devices while they were streaming porn on mobile phone applications HotShots and Bollyfame.

Public Prosecutor Aruna Pai said the police had searched Kundra’s office and found details about Hotshots which includes the number of subscribed customers, payments received, account details and obscene videos.

Pai added that Kundra and Thorpe were duly served notice under Section 41A and had instructed his appearance before a police officer to avoid unnecessary arrest of the CrPC. While Thorpe accepted the notice, Kundra refused the notice.

The public prosecutor said that instead of cooperating with the police, they started destroying evidence and when an accused starts destroying evidence, investigating authorities cannot be mute spectators.

Hence, in order to prevent them from destroying evidence, they were arrested.

Shilpa Shetty’s husband and businessman Raj Kundra was arrested on July 19 under distribution and production of pornographic films through mobile application.
