PM Modi pays tribute to Netaji at Kolkata. CM Mamata refused to give speech.

PM Narendra Modi delivered speech at Parakram Divas to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. PM Said, "Netaji's life, work and decisions are an inspiration for all of us. Nothing was impossible for a person with such steely resolve, "Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose used to count poverty, illiteracy, disease, among the biggest problems in the country. These problems can be solved if society comes together to solve, Wonder how Netaji would have felt had he seen the new India that is taking shape today, said Modi.
 
He also said "From LAC to LOC, the world is witnessing the powerful avatar of India that was once envisioned by Netaji. India today is giving a befitting reply wherever attempts are made to challenge its sovereignty." PM Modi said Netaji would have been proud to see how India is helping other nations by providing them Covid-19 vaccines. The train plying from Howrah, known as Howrah-Kalka Mail is being renamed as Netaji Express, he said. "Netaji once asked people not to lose hope of free India, similarly, no one can stop India from being Aatmanirbhar (self-reliant)," said Modi.
 
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee refused to speak at Netaji's birth anniversary event after ‘Jay Shri Ram” slogans were raised in front of PM Modi's presence. "If you invite someone to a government programme, you should not insult them," said Mamata at the event. Mamata Banerjee, who was present at Victoria Memorial along with PM Modi to pay homage to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's 125th birth anniversary, lost her temper after 'Jai Shri Ram' slogans were raised when she was invited to address the event. After hearing 'Jai Shri Ram' slogans, Mamata Banerjee said, "I think govt's program should have dignity. This is not a political program... it doesn't suit you to insult someone after inviting them. As a protest, I won't speak anything," she said after 'Jai Shree Ram' slogans were raised. The awkward moment took place when PM Modi was also present at the Victoria Memorial. Soon after Mamata Banerjee expressed her anger, PM Modi began his address to honour, remember Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
 
Issuing a statement after Mamata's reaction at the Victoria Memorial event, her party said, "during government of India's event on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s 125th birth anniversary "Jai Sree Ram" slogans hurled. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee protests for not maintaining decorum at a Government event and reducing it to a political event by limiting her address to Jai Hind and Jai Bangla."
