The Nationalist Congress Party supremo Sharad Pawar has called for a meeting between party ministers in Mumbai amidst the present turmoil in Maharashtra over National Investigation Agency arresting Mumbai police officer Sachin Vaze, who was put behind the bars in the Ambani bomb scare case on Saturday night.
However, the NCP leaders have said that it’s a routine meeting; sources indicate that the present political situation in Maharashtra will be up for discussion. The meeting has gained momentum as it comes a day after Maharashtra Bharatiya Janata Party mounted attack on CM Uddhav Thackeray over the arrest of Vaze.
A war of words has escalated between Shiv Sena and the saffron party. While Sena has attacked the Centre for using central agencies over state affairs, Maharashtra BJP has continued to target the Shiv Sena. BJP has now questioned the home minister and asked if he will conduct a probe into the relationship between Sena and Vaze.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police on Monday suspended Vaze following his arrest by NIA. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) S Chaitanya said, "API Sachin Waze has been placed under suspension by an order of Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Special Branch".
