Shaktikanta Das reappointed as RBI's governor for another three years up to Dec 2024

RBI's Chief Das was appointed as the 25th governor of the central bank, back on December 11, 2018, succeeding Urjit Patel

The union government has reappointed Shaktikanta Das as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India and extended the term by another three years.
 
RBI's Chief Das was appointed as the 25th governor of the central bank, back on December 11, 2018, primarily for a period of three years, succeeding Urjit Patel.
 
An official order dated to October 28 stated that the union government has reappointed Das as the Governor of the RBI for a period of three years beyond December 10, 2021.
 
The Appointments Committee of Cabinet which is headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken this decision. And, with this second term of another three years, he will continue as the RBI Chief till December 2024.
 
Shaktikanta Das has held important positions in both Central and State Governments in the sectors of Finance, Taxation, Industries, and Infrastructure among others.
 
Das has even served as an Alternate Governor for India in the World Bank, as well as held important positions in Asian Development Bank (ADB), New Development Bank (NDB) and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
 
The 64-year-old RBI Governor is a postgraduate from St Stephen's College, Delhi University.
