Srinagar is getting ready to welcome delegates from different countries in G20 meeting

Third G20 meet will start from today and will continue upto 24th May at Srinagar.

The city is being decked up for the event and tight security is engaged to look after that the event goes smoothly without any disturbances.
This is the first time that any international event is taking place at Kashmir after scrapping of Article 370 in 2019.
The meeting, under India’s presidency, will be held at Sheri Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) on the banks of the Dal Lake.

It has been reported that more than 180 officials including 60 delegates from G20 countries are expected to attend the meeting.
Meanwhile, a multi-tier security apparatus has been put in place particularly around the venue at SKICC. Marine and NSG commandos have been making security drills for the past few days in the city.
Security forces have been put on high alert after receiving input that terrorist organisations could conspire to carry out a 26/11-type attack during the G20 meeting at the behest of the Pakistani intelligence agency, ISI. Security forces on duty for the G20 summit will carry special identification passes to avert any threats from terrorists in Srinagar.

Security forces from the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will be guarding all the roads from where delegates will reach for the meeting in the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC).
The delegates would be visiting the Parl Mahal, Chesmashai and other Mughal gardens. They would also take a walk on the renovated Polo View Market and will leave the Kashmir Valley on Wednesday (May 24). A proposed trip to Gulmarg, also known as Switzerland of Asia, has been scrapped due to time constraints.
